Notice

Hey guys,

Okay, we're very sorry for the late update. I hope you guys'll forgive us! Just to let you know, we're not dead or anything, we're just extremely busy with school at the moment, so releases will be much slower. But we'll try to get a coupla chapters up whenever we can!

If there's anyone who'd like to lend us a hand, just send an email to marimo.box@gmail.com! You don't have to be experienced, if you are, great! If no, we'll teach you so don't worry about it.

Cheers,
Seppuku

Chotto Edo Made - Chapter 1

Whoops. Sorry for the late update!

You may: Boil us, fry us, steam us, cook us or something later. School's got us extremely busy with little time on our hands for scanlating, and since a lot of us know each other IRL, we're all busy with almost the same thing.

Sorry it's not Hanasakeru Seishounen this round though, but we bring you a new series by Tsuda Masami, Author of Kare Kano (:

It's called Chotto Edo Made
(A little more to Edo).

The comedy story is set in an ultra-prestigious middle school at the height of Edo-era Tokyo, over 150 years ago. It [centers] around a son of the ruling Tokugawa clan's Mito family and a daughter of an elite Tokugawa shogun. (Source: ANN)

Title of the first chapter is:
The Rose of Stone and the Sakura of Ice

Hanasakeru Seishounen Update!

As you can see, Hanasakeru Seishounen is composed of extremely lengthy chapters called "ACTS" that are well over 100 pages each, therefore we have split these "ACTS" up into smaller, more manageable sizes called parts.

These parts will be ranging from 20~35 pages per part, so that readers will not have to wait as long for each part to be released. Each time we release a part, we will include it's individual part file for download. But if you wish to download the full version of an Act, we will provide the full link up for download for each version after the all the parts for an Act are scanlated and finished.

You can also find our group's releases and page on Mangahelpers.

Current Activity

Good midnight people,

Seppuku here.

First, I'd like to give a warm welcome to our new comrades:

  1. Quilker - Chi - Eng Translator and Scanlator.
  2. Lailo - Distributor.
  3. Lobsters - another Chi - Eng Translator and Scanlator.
We look forward to torturing you :)

Our IRC channel has been made: #marimo-box@irc.rizon.net
So feel free to drop by and have a chat with us or to ask us questions etc.

Aside from our IRC channel being made, we've started on our first project - Hanasakeru Seishounen. We've dropped the idea of taking up Full House Kiss and Switch Girl for now as well, and we're aiming to do a Shounen manga after Hanasakeru Seishounen. But seeing that Hanasakeru Seishounen consists of a good 12 volumes, the Shounen manga would have to wait for some time. In the mean time, we'll be working hard on scanlating Hanasakeru Seishounen.

Until then, you can go sit miserably in some corner out of boredom for the time being, or wait patiently for our next update!

Introducing Quilker

Let's see.
Ah yes.
My name is quilker.

My role in the group is to help translate Chinese raws, or to clean, or to typeset, or to qc.
Well, actually, I don't really have a very well defined role.
I just do whatever Kansaki/Seppuku ask me to.

I like watching anime and reading manga, although nowadays I mostly do the latter, because i don't have much time for the former. I like pretty much all shounen manga, so you can imagine my reaction when they told me we'd be doing shoujo manga. Well, it's not like it's a big deal anyway, since we're supposed to move onto shounen manga sometime in the future.

Right now it's just the three of us Kansaki, Seppuku and yours truly.
Please look forward to our releases.

P.S. Kansaki and Seppuku are scary.
They go boom if you don't listen to them.
Have you seen a nuclear explosion? That kind of boom.
With the whole mushroom cloud and thing.
eek

Upcoming Projects

Hello again,

Right now, we're planning on taking up the following projects for speed-scanning:

1. Hanasakeru Seishounen (f)
2. Full House Kiss (l)

3. Switch Girl!! (~)

Key:
(f): Full, the complete project from beginning to end
(l): Leftovers, the rest of the series that hasn't been scanlated
(~): Unsure, needs to be checked to see if other groups are currently working on it

Hanasakeru Seishounen
Hanasakeru Seishounen is currently airing as an anime, as shown on the picture on the above left. It's manga is on the right, and that'll be our first project.

Synopsis:
A very powerful industrialist directs his daughter to pick a husband from three candidates he have chosen for her. They are to come into her life, and their uniqueness would cause her to recognize them immediately. The story evolves alone the lines of a power political mystery involving a small middle eastern country. One thing that comes the mind is the author’s ability to establish strong moods by a close up of a character’s expression. All three of the candidates are outstanding.

Full House Kiss
Right now, Full House Kiss is being scanlated by Aerandria. However, many impatient readers like us are desperately waiting for chapters. Therefore, we are planning on finishing off the leftovers by speed-scan. In order to do this, we'll have to speak to Aerandria about it first.

Synopsis: Mugi Suzuhara was a normal teenager, until her beloved older sister disappeared. Shortly after, her parents died in a suspicious car accident after saying they had found her sister. Mugi tries to break into her sister's high school, Shoukei Academy, one of those super, super elite high schools, to find evidence, but is almost hurt by a guard dog when she's saved by Kazuya Midou, a rich and powerful student. He makes a deal with her that she can look around the school as a substitute teacher if she acts as a housekeeper for him and his three male boarders - who happen to also be very popular Shoukei students.

Switch Girl!!

Switch Girl is currently being scanlated by KyonPyon. However, we're unsure of their current progress so we'll have to do some checking on it. If they're willing let us help, we'll also be taking this project up.

Synopsis: Tamiya Nika is a beautiful, outgoing, popular high school girl. She has just the right look, just the right fashions, and is everyone’s friend. What everyone at school does not know is how hard Nika works to keep up this perfect image, and what she is REALLY like at home. When not at school, Nika is a scary, sloppy, tight-fisted girl who wears glasses, an ugly sweatsuit, and has her hair pulled back into unattactive buns. She lays around playing video games and reading manga. Her attitude is bossy and cranky, and she travels far out of her way to shop where she won’t be recognized.

Every day, Nika “Switches On” with a strict regimen of beautification that involves primping and plucking and careful dressing. The only person who knows about Nika’s Switched On/Off modes is her best friend, who is also aware of the reasons behind the changes.

However, soon a second person finds about about Nika’s personalities - someone who has his own On/Off switch, but in reverse! His name is Kamiyama Arata, and he is a recent transfer student. He meets Nika when she is in OFF Mode, and then again at school when she is ON. However Nika can see that he has his little secret. At school, Arata wears thick swirly-eyed glasses and messy hair that make some bullies think he is an otaku. However, at home, he ditches the glasses and is downright gorgeous! He is just the opposite of Nika, but why?

Greetings from Seppuku

I'm Seppuku.
Let's see, I'm the mad artist, scanlator and half translator of Marimo Scans. I'm working together with Kansaki on scanlating random manga that we find interesting.

Okay, for some of you who are wondering why my authoring name is so strange: Yes, Seppuku basically means suicide. It's a form of suicide actually, It's basically the art of death through stomach cutting which is specially for Samurai. And because I think it looks cool, I used it as my authoring name. And no, I'm not crazy.

Now, if you ask "Why Marimo? Why Box"
That's because we figured that our original group name "Kuso-Yarou" was a little vulgar and inappropriate. So I ended up wrecking my brains for another strange name, and came up with 'Marimo' on a whim. However, I thought that just plain "Marimo" sounded boring, so I wrecked my brain for something else. I came up with Marimo-Scans and Marimo-Prison, however they didn't work out. A while later, I randomly blurted out 'What about Marimo-Box?' and everyone agreed. Thus the birth of Marimo-Box.

Marimo, which is also known as moss ball, is a species of green algae found in lakes in the northern hemisphere. They're soft and velvety, not slimy or icky, and they're pretty cool. I mean, they float and everything.

So... I'm an Anime and Manga obsessor, but I'm not an otaku. I'm a legendary Samurai who's currently under the orders of my Lord, Kansaki (though I actually wish to serve Monkey D. Luffy from the bottom of my heart). I'm a giant One Piece fan as well, and I worship Oda, and his creations. I enjoy drawing, although my drawings may not be the best out there, and I'll be presenting you with our marimo mascot shortly.

Have a good day, fellow people.

Welcome to Marimo-Box!

Welcome to the first edition of The Marimo Blog, the official website of Marimo-Box! We are currently a private speedscan project developed and maintained by Kansaki and Seppuku. We aim to deliver good quality manga scans in the shortest amount of time possible, allowing readers to enjoy manga chapters nearly immediately after their initial release in Japan.
In the consequent posts, you'll find group updates, reviews, and the occasional rant from our passionate and exceptionally violent staff. :)

So, without further delay, bring forth - The Marimo Blog!

First off, I'm Kansaki, and I'll be co-writing this blog together with fellow scanlator Seppuku. I am a ninja/assassin/clone currently working for a top secret military base located in Alaska. I love watching anime and J-dramas, among other things, and find myself, unfortunately, to be quite the fangirl at times.
My co-writer, Seppuku, will be introducing himself shortly.

Pleasant evening everyone! I smell marshmallows. ^^
